Privacy and cookies policy of the National Digital Archives

The policy described below applies to all websites and web pages, including those for mobile devices, made available by the NDA.

1. Scope of collected data

In order to offer better services to all users, we collect various information including, storing HTTP requests made to our servers.

We store the following information:

  • the public IP address and the name of the computer from which you are making the request
  • the user name you provide during the authorisation process
  • the time of the request
  • the first line of the http request
  • HTTP response code
  • number of bytes sent by the server
  • information about the browser of the user

We do not associate this data with any particular person browsing the NDA web pages, and we do not use it for user profiling. We only use it for statistical purposes in order to assess: which web pages are visited most often, which browsers are used, if the web page structure contains errors (if the page displays correctly). We use the Piwik and Google Analytics tools for statistical analyses.

2. Archiving period

Logs are stored for no longer than 5 years. Only authorised Administrators of the NDA have access to this information. The information contained therein is not disclosed to anyone except those authorised to administer the server.

3. Cookies mechanism on websites

We use "persistent" and "session" cookies. "Persistent" cookies are stored in the web browser of the device until they are deleted by the user or for a predetermined period specified in the parameters of the cookie file. "Session" cookies are stored in the browser until it is turned off or until the user logs out of the website where they are placed.

The mechanism of cookies is not used to obtain any information about the users of the website or to track their navigation. Cookies used on the NDA websites do not store any personal data or other information collected from the users.

For the individual NDA websites we use the following cookies:

The Local Administrator, sourced from the Integrated Archive Information System [Polish: Zintegrowany System Informacji Archiwalnej (ZoSIA) uses the following cookies:

The website uses a session cookie called INFO to save the fact that you have read the highlighted information. Thanks to the use of the cookie file, the information concerning new feed is displayed only once per user session and does not appear again once the user has moved on to another subpage of the website. The aforementioned session cookie, if present for a limited period of time, is only present for the time that the website is visited by the user.

4. Use of external services

We use the services of Google Analytics and YouTube, which have their own privacy policies:

5. User rights

The NDA respects the right of each individual to control the processing of data concerning him contained in the data files, and in particular the right to obtain information regarding the processing of personal data concerning the user.

If you provide us with your personal data, you can also verify, modify and erase it. If you do not want us to further process your personal data, we will consider your objection. All you have to do is to send us a letter explaining your wishes/demands.

6. Prohibition of sending advertising information

The use of the contact details we possess (provided under the obligation to publish company data) to send unsolicited advertising and information materials is prohibited. The administrators of the websites expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of sending unsolicited advertising information, e.g. spam.

7. Changes to this privacy policy

We reserve the right to update and supplement the content of this privacy policy. Updates and additions are published on our website. The amendments are effective from the time of their publication thereon. We therefore encourage you to regularly check the website for updates and additions made in the meantime.

8. Links to other websites

The NDA websites contain links to external websites. The NDA is not responsible for the privacy and data processing practices of these web pages. This privacy policy applies only to websites provided by the NDA.
